Pioneer Bdr 207d Driver For Mac
I hesitated to purchase a Bluray burner for a long time because all of the affordable drives were receiving mixed reviews. Even the Verbatim media were getting bashed, and I have had nothing but success for years wth Verbatim DVD+R. In any case, I have had the drive for two months now and have burned about 20 disks (the higher-quality version of the Verbatim in the 25 pack). Every burn has been perfect (except for one which was interrupted by a power outage). I cannot speak for other customers, but I am completely satisfied. As soon as I can afford it, I am going to purchase a second drive exactly like this one for my other computer.

Incidentally, the fact that the drive comes without software may pose issues if you want to play commercial Bluray disks on your computer, although there are free programs that work fairly well. But there is outstanding freeware for burning data files, HD downloads, home videos and photos, etc. Imgburn, for example, is not only free and superb but is as safe as any program I have ever downloaded. Very reliable.

No problems there. I've had the drive for one or two years and it's always worked. This drive is SLOW for me. I'm copying a blu ray movie to my hard drive and it's getting only 2X speed (8.5 MB/sec).
On Pioneer's web site the various forms of BD read speed are rated at 6X - 10X. So I'm pretty annoyed with that. I'm running Windows 8.1. I updated the firmware on the drive to 1.21 (see Pioneer's web site).
That didn't help. Some Pioneer drives are locked to 2X read speed so it's quiet for watching movies. You have to install a utility to speed them up.
I assume that's what's going on here, but Pioneer's site doesn't offer a utility that applies to this drive. How to burn blu-ray dvds in five easy steps: 1. Make sure your software is capable of burning a Blu-Ray DVD (like Adobe Premiere 10) 2. Take out the usual four screws that hold your old DVD burner in your PC. Put the Pioneer in the same place, use the same screws. (total time to install about 10 minutes, mainly spend figuring out how to remove the PC case) 4. Power up the PC, watch the drivers being installed assuming you are running Win7.
Good news, even though the files are much larger, the burn time, while longer, is not ridiculously long. The new drive also burns CDs and standard DVDs with ease. With Verbatim Blu-Ray media, also from Amazon, flawless copies. Very reliable. No problems there.

I assume that's what's going on here, but Pioneer's site doesn't offer a utility that applies to this drive. I decided to purchase the Pioneer BDR-207DBK drive after getting many failed/poor quality burns on an ASUS drive (Lite-On rebadge) purchased around Black Friday 2011.
Since using the Pioneer, I have not experienced a single failed burn (out of 40-50 discs so far) using SmartBlu media. The Pioneer actually burns the SmartBlu media at 10x instead of its rated speed of 4x and the quality scans are outperforming many of the blank media staple/core brands (Verbatim/Panasonic). I now use the ASUS drive primarily for playing back media and the Pioneer for burning. This package did not include any software for those wanting Bluray playback/burning capability, nor SATA cables, it is an OEM package only (not a problem for me). Although it is somewhat pricier than other brands/models, it seems like another case of quality vs. Cost, where the Pioneer comes ot ahead.
Very few Blu-ray burners support writing to LTH (Low To High) discs but fortunately this one does.up to 6X. It could also write to both 25GB/50GB BD-R SL/DL at an amazing 12X! This is Pioneer's newest drive at the time of this writing. Mine has firmware 1.10 from the factory but I updated it to 1.20 using the very easy to use firmware update utility from Pioneer's website.
This drive has a new QuickStart feature which enables the disc to be ready 42% faster than the previous model. It's also designed to run quieter using a specially designed disc tray structure and smoothed interior with tunnel-like air intakes and ducts helping to reduce operational noise. Very happy with this drive.great price, performance and quality. Update: Pioneer released another firmware update v1.21!
I have burned about 100 Blu-ray movies so far and the drive has performed great, no coasters yet. Ordered on Thursday late afternoon, expected delivery of Saturday, got it on Friday.
I love Prime. And I am in NY, so yes, I have been paying taxes on my Amazon purchases' for two years but I don't mind as Amazon is heads and shoulders above the rest. How hard can it be? Opened package, undid one screw on computer case, then another on old dvd writer, pulled the sata plugs, slipped old one out, new one in, one screw, hooked sata cables back up, put side of case back on and installed case screw. Booted into Windows 7, (I have an SSD so this is fast), Windows found the new Pioneer and INSTALLED DRIVER BY ITSELF. Literally took all of 5 minutes.

Opened up my new pack of Verbatim BD-R's, threw one in the Pioneer, loaded up ImgBurn and proceed to burn 6 BD-r's in a row, took all of my saved pictures off of my backup USB 3.0 external drive. Everyone burned perfectly. After burning I checked to see if there is a new firmware for the drive, there was, downloaded it and clicked on the exe file, automatically updated the firmware, that took another minute.
Perfect burns, easy to use. Download Imgburn, great, free burning program. Fast shipping as usual 2.
Easy to install, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD A DRIVER FOR IT TO WORK IN WINDOWS 3. Silent, I swear I couldn't even hear it running 4. Again, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD A DRIVER FOR IT TO WORK IN WINDOWS Cons: 1. Did not come with software, it did say it came in a white box, hence, OEM, just the drive.
I knew that before purchasing, so it really isn't a con to me. Hope Solo didn't deliver it. Why, wasn't she available?;).
