Sas

I have a G-Tech GRAID 4th Generation 2TB external triple interface eSATA/Firewire/USB device. I also have another generic eSATA raid device. My computer is based on a Tyan s2696 motherboard and has on-board LSI SAS 3000 series, 8 port with 1068E, driver version 1.28.03.52. The computer dual boots XP Pro and Windows 7 Professional x64. The generic eSATA raid device works fine in both operating systems.

The GTECH raid works fine attached by eSATA in Windows XP, and in Windows 7 when attached by firewire or USB rather than eSATA, however when attached by eSATA in Windows 7 Pro x64 the computer does not mount the volume. It does not appear in disc manager. In device manage it appears with a question mark under Other Devices and is described as an ATA eSATA-2 external SCSI Disk Device. OK, so because the G-TECH raid works in XP I am assuming that there are no hardware issues, so this must be an operating system issue. What really puzzles me though is that the generic eSATA raid box works just fine under Windows 7.

Can anyone provide any insight, or, even better, a solution? Thanks Rupert.
