Is pages free for mac

If you do have a 2nd hand Mac that maybe had Windows or Linux installed on it, and you now want to install Mac OS X, but you did not get the install DVD (or CDs), you can contact Apple support and request the original install disks that came with the Mac for a shipping and handling fee. However, if your Mac was of the generation that started shipping Lion (10.7), then Apple stopped shipping installed DVDs, and you would use the recovery partition (boot holding Command-R) to network download the Lion, or Mountain Lion, or Mavericks. NOTE: To download Mavericks for a new install, you need to be already running Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or a newer 10.7, or 10.8 version, so that you have the App Store. It would help if we knew what version of Mac OS X your current running, and what Mac you are using? To install an OSX virtual machine in VmWare you need to either buy and old copy on EBay or something since they don't sell disks anymore and for Macs the ecosystem is closed- nobody goes to their site and downloads a trial. On a mac it downloads the OS straight from Apple in recovery mode and handles updates all through the app store, which, on a Windows machine you don't have access to.

If you have a Mac you don't need a trial- you just get the OS with your computer, and if you're on Windows Apple doesn't allow installation on to non- Apple hardware. Otherwise, for the latest version what you'll need to do is go check around and see if you can find it from an illegitimate 3'rd party (a torrent) the new OSX, Mavericks, is free but that doesn't mean you won't be breaking the law downloading a torrent- pretty sure the copyright doesn't allow for distribution by anyone but Apple and authorized retailers.

The bigger question is why bother? I installed an OSX virtual machine on my Windows 7 desktop some years ago, back when you could buy a disk at Best Buy for $30. It was a tremendous waste of time. The thing opened and ran and did everythign I needed but it was unimaginably slow and didn't really work all that well with my Windows keyboard and mouse- no inertial scrolling, no Command key, no multitouch track-pad- it was like using Windows with an OSX skin on it, but with the added slowness of being a virtual machine- none of the snappy interface features or track pad gestures could work with a Windows mouse. If you're trying to use it as a chance to test-drive the OS before deciding to buy- it will be a lame experience and not really representative of using an actual Mac. If you want to simply run some apps that are only available on Apple it could be worthwhile- but not so great for high-performance apps- so no Final Cut, Motion, Garageband, Logic etc.

Those will run SLOOOOWW. So, my recommendation, don't waste your time. You'll be severely disappointed when you get it to work. Instead, either build yourself a hackintosh with proper hardware, with a trackpad and a bt keyboard, or just go buy a used mac. Apple Footer. 2.2 Apr 1, 2014. Redtail47 Poor program in general I’ve been using Apple products for about 12 years now, and I have to say that Pages for IPad is one of the worst Apps I’ve used. It has always had weird temporary problems, but also lots of very consistent ones too.

For example if I’m typing fast and hit 2 Keys almost at the same time it highlights a chunk of my paragraph and with my next keystroke deletes it. This isn’t just Pages, it happens whenever I use the onscreen keyboard and I’m typing fast.someone should’ve fixed that. Then for a long time I could not get it to bold italics or underline.it would just highlight an empty spot, and I’d try over and over. Sometimes eventually it’d work, other times I’d just have to do it on my laptop.

That went on for years. About 6 months ago it finally stopped happening. Now the App just freezes from time to time for no reason and won’t unfreeze, sometimes for days.I can’t do anything and shutting off and turning back on IPad doesn’t help. Also now there’s a problem with the backspace button that doesn’t occur anywhere but Pages. I’ll hit the back space and nothing will happen, so I’ll hit again and nothing, then suddenly it’ll erase two spaces. It doesn’t seem like a big issue, but it is when you’re working fast. Sometimes I’ll even start typing again and it’ll erase what I’ve typed.

Just very frustrating. Redtail47 Poor program in general I’ve been using Apple products for about 12 years now, and I have to say that Pages for IPad is one of the worst Apps I’ve used.

Snikpoh9402 ONE Problem and only ONE!!! I absolutely LOVE pages, numbers and keynote.

I have Office on my MacBook but prefer these over Office hands down. I have purchased so many of the template apps as well, that now I think I could open a business creating documents for others. The problem is that the rest of the world does not use these Mac apps. Most of the time, I have to send my masterpieces that I spend hours on back to the office where everyone uses Office, so before I do, I have to send the document to myself so I can see what changes were made in Office and then make it look as close to what I originally created as possible. There should be better compatibility between the 2. Many have complained about the font shortage. That is definitely a true issue, but my biggest complaint is the compatibility.

When I import docs from Office to iWork there are also issues (background color or font color changes in keynote, drop down menus change in numbers, etc.) Please, please, please do something to improve this. I love playing with the templates and creating beautiful items that everyone thinks I'm a great graphical genius, but if the rest of the office can't see them, using/buying these apps is pointless.
